Captain Butch McCoy

Hello, My name is Butch McCoy and Im helping Capt. Chris out when he's
on the "job" or just needs some time off from his busy schedule.. I am a
100 ton master, USCG licensed Captain. I have had this certification for about
25 years, and Im happy to say that I have brought back everyone that has left
with me, and on one trip I brought in two boys that were adrift, fleeing Cuba on
a not so fancy raft. On the lighter side, recently retired from the fire service
after 30 years and now its just a lot of fishing and bits of golf here and
there. Years ago I ran a 38' sportfisherman and was the second one to make
the 120 mile buoy trip for the yellowfin tuna . Wow, things changing
so fast that the go fast boats do it in a day where we used to leave at night,
run all night and finally arrive at daylight, long trip and at that time no
radar was used to find the birds. Somehow we found the tuna along with billfish,
dolphin and wahoo. Up until recently, I fished the SKA (southeren
kingfish association) throughout the east and west coast and to
include the nationals which were help in Mississippi and Florida, earlier in
2000 we won the Kingbuster 400, which is one of the premier events on the
kingfish circuit. I have fished the waters off Cape Canaveral since the early
70's and I consider them my home waters. Being a "fireguy" and having alot
of time off, I was fortunate enough to learn and fish from many of them that are
still very active in todays fishing circles, I suppose my speciality is live
baiting, sight fishing and trolling. I am lucky enough to have a wife that
supports my fishing and her understanding of the long and tireless hours that I
spend on the water. In ending up, my take on fishing charters, "this is
your trip, I'm only along to assist you in anyway, get you safely back
where we started from and most of all have fun... I hope to see you on the water
soon. Tight lines.
